When writing there needs to be a purpose. Writing without a purpose could present itself to be quite difficult as the writer might not know why they are even writing in the first place. Purpose is defined as the goal or aim of a writing piece.

When writing my essays I always had a purpose. With the literacy narrative I wanted my audience to understand my struggle with reading and writing in the past and how I found a way to become a better writer. With my expository essay my purpose was to inform my audience as to ways pro athletes and sports can take part in social protesting and could help impact change. For my argumentative essay my purpose in which I stated in my reflection paper was “was to prove to the audience that athletes need to protest and influence us to do the same.”
