Stance is defined by taking a position or a side on a certain issue or topic. When writing having a certain stance will determine what words are used throughout your writing and the tone you set. The stance will also have an impact on the message a writer is sending.

In my argumentative essay I had to take a stance. My stance impacted how I wrote my essay as I was arguing to support my stance   and certain details and ideas that I presented all exemplified what stance I was taking. In my argumentative essay my stance was that pro athletes and sports should protest police brutality and inequality. Taking this stance my research mainly revolved around the fact that I want to prove why pro athletes should protest and the importance of them doing so.
